GM is adding digital car keys to Apple Wallet (plus Google and Samsung Wallet) for listed Cadillac EVs now, with Chevy Tahoe/Suburban, GMC Yukon, and Escalade lined up for December.
GM is rolling out digital car keys you can store in Apple Wallet — and in Google Wallet and Samsung Wallet — for select Cadillac EVs, with more GM models to follow. The company laid out the phased schedule in a September 23, 2026 press release. MacRumors (Joe Rossignol) resurfaced that PR for Apple readers on Monday, October 19, 2026.
Per GM:
Exact timing for a given VIN still depends on when that vehicle is ready. GM says customers will see a notification in the What’s New section of their vehicle mobile app when digital key becomes available, and that the rollout will continue across additional GM vehicles over time.
With a digital key in your wallet, GM says the vehicle can unlock as you approach and lock when you walk away. From the wallet you can also open the trunk or liftgate and adjust climate controls before you get in. You can share the key with up to seven additional devices (AirDrop, Messages, WhatsApp, and similar). The account owner can remove access from the vehicle or wallet; if a device is lost or stolen, OnStar can deactivate the digital key.
GM’s implementation uses ultra-wideband for proximity authentication plus Bluetooth for connected controls, and is built on the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) standard.
GM lists Apple support as iPhone 11 or newer, Apple Watch Series 6 or newer, and Apple Watch Ultra (1st generation or newer). For passive entry with UWB, Apple’s car key support document aligns with that floor and notes exclusions for iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation) and iPhone 16e — the same nuance MacRumors flagged. Cadillac’s digital key support page similarly excludes “SE,” “XR,” and “e” devices. Pixel and Galaxy lists are in the GM release for Google Wallet and Samsung Wallet users; MacRumors notes Samsung materials mentioning availability in the U.S. and Canada.
GM’s steps: download and sign in to your vehicle’s mobile app, then — while you are in an OnStar-connected GM vehicle with the physical key fob nearby — follow the in-app prompts to add a digital key to Apple Wallet (or Google/Samsung Wallet). Apple’s support document covers the Wallet side of pairing and everyday use once the automaker handoff is complete.
This is a confirmed manufacturer rollout with named model years and calendar windows. If you own one of the listed Cadillacs, check What’s New in the brand app; Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Escalade, and CELESTIQ owners should watch for the December wave.
