Final Cut Camera 2.4 adds iPhone 18 Pro variable aperture and pro monitoring tools

Apple has released Final Cut Camera 2.4, a free update to its pro iPhone filming app that adds variable aperture control on iPhone 18 Pro, a ground-up redesign, and new iOS 27 monitoring tools. The update is available beginning 29 September 2026, per Apple Newsroom.

The same day, Apple also shipped a broader wave of Apple Creator Studio updates for Final Cut Pro, Motion, Pixelmator Pro, Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and Freeform — covered briefly below.

What’s new in Final Cut Camera 2.4

Apple says version 2.4 is redesigned from the ground up for quicker access to shutter angle, ISO, and white balance, with customizable overlays (false color and clipping indicators), improved focus peaking with sensitivity control, a tally light while recording, and a two-finger tap to clear the viewfinder.

On iPhone 18 Pro (and Pro Max), creators can dial the Fusion Main camera’s variable aperture — Apple’s first aperture control on iPhone — or use shutter priority and aperture priority modes. The update also unlocks Cinematic mode effects for regular video, including ProRes and Apple Log footage, so focus points and depth of field can be adjusted later in Final Cut Pro.

With iOS 27, Final Cut Camera adds professional video scopes (RGB Parade and histogram), clean SDI out via an HDMI-to-SDI converter, and genlock offset for multi-camera / latency compensation.

Final Cut Camera remains part of the Creator Studio subscription ($12.99/month or $129/year in the U.S., per 9to5Mac). Download the free app update from the App Store when it appears.

Final Cut Camera 2.4 is the first Apple pro-capture app to expose that control end-to-end — aperture priority / shutter priority in the viewfinder, then Cinematic-style depth edits in Final Cut Pro. Owners who already installed iOS 27.0.1 can pair the software patch with today’s creator tooling drop.
