U.S. Apple Store Duo buyers may see a personalized first-boot greeting in English or Spanish, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports.
U.S. Apple Store shoppers who buy an iPhone Duo will get a personalized first-boot greeting, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman says. Retail stores will have a system that customizes the device so the classic Hello screen can say something like "Hello, Mark" when it turns on for the first time.
The touch is limited to the United States, exclusive to the iPhone Duo, and available in English and Spanish, Gurman wrote on X. MacRumors and 9to5Mac both flagged the report, noting it would presumably cover in-store purchases and in-store pickup orders.
How Apple will wire the name onto a sealed or powered-off unit is still unclear. 9to5Mac notes Presto, Apple's in-store system for updating iPhones without opening the box, could be involved, but that has not been confirmed.
iPhone Duo pre-orders start Friday, October 16 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time, with availability beginning Friday, October 23. Pricing starts at $1,999.
