People on Reddit were saying this last week already. Still nice to see it written up properly.
I'm team wait-and-see. Foldables still feel like a party trick until the hinge lasts 5 years.
Samsung's software continuity still lags; Apple could win on that alone even with a meh hinge.
Counterpoint numbers are always aggressive. Reminds me of early Vision Pro forecasts.
Market share of foldables is still tiny overall. 25% of a niche is still a niche.
lol
Side fingerprint makes sense if the crease messes with under-display sensors. Practical.
Power button Touch ID is already solid on iPads. Porting that to a foldable is low-risk.
I'll believe the 25% share when I see a teardown and actual inventory, not a forecast slide.
If Apple ships a foldable, I'm more curious about Stage Manager / Continuity than the fingerprint.
Hinge durability and crease are still the hard parts. Biometrics are the easy checkbox.

Anyone know if Face ID is completely out for foldables or just delayed?
Price will decide share, not Touch ID placement. If it's $2k+, that 25% is fantasy.
true
Under-display Face ID has been vaporware for years. Side Touch ID is the adult solution.
yep
Foldables still feel heavy when closed. Until that changes, share ceilings look soft.
Apple entering late is fine if the software story is actually better day one.
Waiting for Ming-Chi to confirm before I take Counterpoint seriously.
