Apple hasn’t locked pre-order dates yet. Macwelt/Macworld and MacRumors point to Saturday, September 12 (possibly midnight PT) for iPhone 18 Pro orders — skipping Friday the 11th — with September 18 the leading retail window.
Apple has confirmed Wednesday’s “Surprise and shine” event, but it has not confirmed when iPhone pre-orders open. Reporting from Macwelt / Macworld and MacRumors points to a schedule wrinkle this year: the usual Friday pre-order day lands on September 11.

Macwelt said a reliable source indicated Apple will open pre-orders on Saturday, September 12, rather than Friday, September 11, because that Friday is the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Macworld’s English localization of that report also says Apple may open the window at midnight Pacific, earlier than the 5 a.m. PT slot used in recent years.
There is precedent: when the iPhone 6s event fell on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, Apple moved 6s / 6s Plus pre-orders to Saturday, September 12 for the same calendar reason, MacRumors notes.
What about the foldable?
Supply-chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said foldable production constraints could push Ultra pre-orders later than the Pro models — potentially into a later window. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has pushed back on “massive delay” narratives, saying he would be surprised if the foldable does not launch with the Pro models or very close to them. Until Apple publishes order dates on stage, treat Ultra timing as unresolved.
