KeyBanc keeps an Underweight/$250 view and models iPhone 18 Pro at $1,249, Pro Max at $1,399, and Ultra at $2,199—arguing Wednesday’s event could pressure AAPL as volumes fall without a base model.
KeyBanc Capital Markets says Apple’s September 9 “Surprise and shine” event could become a negative catalyst for the stock, arguing that higher iPhone prices and a Pro-heavy lineup may invite closer investor scrutiny of demand and margins.
The note, first detailed by MacRumors and also covered by AppleInsider, keeps KeyBanc’s Underweight rating and $250 price target—well below where Apple was trading when the note circulated.
KeyBanc’s research note (as summarized by those outlets) expects:
Those figures are estimates, not Apple pricing. Apple has not announced prices or confirmed the Ultra name.
KeyBanc models about 80 million iPhone builds across fiscal Q4 2026 and Q1 2027, down from roughly 91 million a year earlier. It attributes most of the drop to the absence of a base iPhone 18 in this fall’s window, with a richer mix and higher ASPs expected to offset some of the unit decline.
The firm also cites a familiar pattern: Apple shares have averaged a modest decline on announcement day and a larger dip five trading days later over the past five years. That history alone does not prove Wednesday will repeat it.
AppleInsider notes that KeyBanc has long run a below-market target on Apple and that the note underweights several offsets: Pro models typically dominate holiday-quarter mix, a spring standard iPhone 18 wave is still expected, and memory/NAND cost pressure helps explain a Pro-first split. Foldable pricing questions remain open either way.
KeyBanc itself floats that Apple might raise prices selectively or in stages rather than in one broad sticker shock.
