iPhone Duo confirms MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging up to 25W
Apple’s Duo tech specs confirm MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging up to 25W — about 50% in 30 minutes — despite early rumors that magnets might be cut.
Early foldable rumors kept flip-flopping on whether Apple’s first book-style iPhone would keep MagSafe. Apple’s iPhone Duo technical specifications settle it: Duo ships with MagSafe wireless charging up to 25W, Qi2 wireless charging up to 25W, plus a magnet array, alignment magnet, Accessory Identification NFC, and magnetometer.
That matches the Duo Newsroom unveil, which says Duo can wirelessly charge up to 50 percent in around 30 minutes with a MagSafe or Qi2 charger (wired is still faster: about 50% in around 20 minutes with a 60W-capable adapter).
Why this matters
Pre-event leaks of dummy units often lacked a visible MagSafe ring, so some coverage treated wireless magnets as cut for thinness. Official specs say otherwise — good news for MagSafe chargers, car mounts, and the Duo Case / Folio accessories Apple says are MagSafe-, Qi2 25W-, and Qi-compatible.
