Devoted Dog Shields Her Tiny Brother in the Middle of a Busy Road
When cars rushed past, a brave shepherd mix curled around her five-pound sibling and refused to leave his side.
When traffic ground to a sudden halt on a busy roadway in Los Angeles County, California, rescuers Suzette Hall and Rosario Ortiz of Logan's Legacy 29 quickly understood why. In the middle of the street, directly on the painted centerline, two lost dogs were lying together while cars carelessly swerved around them. The sight was heart-stopping: an unlikely bonded duo made up of a large shepherd mix and a tiny, scruffy pup weighing no more than five pounds.
The larger dog, named Nova, had taken it upon herself to become her tiny brother's guardian angel. As vehicles whizzed by, Nova wrapped her body protectively around little Benji, refusing to leave his side. Hall and Ortiz stepped in immediately to stop oncoming traffic and coaxed the frightened pair into a neighboring yard. Even when Benji was gently secured into a crate, Nova kept her vigilant eyes locked on him, sitting directly against the bars to ensure he was safe.
