Rescuer Unties Tightly Bound Sack to Save a Terrified Senior Dog

Alexandra Sava, founder of Romanian shelter Sava’s Safe Haven, was cleaning kennels when barking dogs alerted her to a car pulling up outside. The visitors explained that a relative had recently passed away, leaving behind a dog they could not keep. But instead of handing over a pup on a leash or in a crate, they directed Sava toward a white cloth bag wrapped tightly shut.

Sava immediately created a small hole so the pup could get fresh air, then rushed the bundle straight into a secure indoor room before opening it. “I was afraid to fully open the bag outside because the dog was traumatized, so I didn’t want to risk the dog escaping and just running away,” Sava said.

Inside, Sava uncovered a trembling black-and-white dog who was completely frozen in fear. A scan of her microchip revealed she was a 9-year-old senior. The rescue team named her Lica and gave her a thorough medical checkup, which thankfully confirmed she had no major health problems.
