State Trooper Rescues Abandoned Crated Puppy at Busy Highway Rest Stop
Left behind in a metal crate along the interstate, little Miles found safety and an instant friend in the officer who saved him.
While on routine patrol late last month, Trooper Kronander of the Ohio State Highway Patrol made a heartbreaking discovery. Tucked away at the edge of a highway rest stop's parking area sat a small metal crate. Peering inside, the trooper found a vulnerable young puppy who had been completely abandoned along the busy interstate.
Left alone in such a dangerous and unfamiliar place, the pup had every reason to be terrified. But as Kronander approached with gentle patience, fear instantly turned into pure joy. The trooper's body cam captured the heartwarming moment: as soon as the door was opened, the playful pup bounced happily around his rescuer, showering him with love before hopping into the warmth of the patrol cruiser.
Taken to the Medina County SPCA, the resilient dog was given the name Miles. His stay at the shelter turned out to be wonderfully brief. The very second he was neutered and ready for adoption, a Medina County Sheriff's Officer stepped up to welcome Miles into his family forever, giving the roadside rescue the loving home he always deserved.
