Shelter Finds Clever Rescue Husky Lounging on Top of Her Kennel
Maya the husky proved locks are just puzzles after scaling her kennel walls and casually chilling out on the roof.
When staff members at Richmond Animal Care & Control walked into the shelter one morning, they had to do an immediate double take. Sitting calmly on top of a wire-covered enclosure was Maya, a 5-year-old husky who had decided her kennel room simply wasn't high enough. The nimble escape artist had scaled the kennel walls, squeezed through a gap near the ceiling, and made herself right at home on the roof.
As shelter director Christie Peters told The Dodo, the team was "dying laughing and then really wondered how she managed it." The shelter shared the hilarious moment on Facebook, joking that Maya was casually hanging out like she paid rent and reminding everyone that locks are merely puzzles in true husky fashion. Staff quickly retrofitted and secured the kennel cover flush against the wall to keep their resident acrobat safe.
