Rescue Dog Wanted His Bed Back, So Dad Bought One for the Puppy — and It Backfired Instantly

Cactus sat firmly on the living room floor, casting a long, deeply unimpressed look at the fluffy donut bed he used to have all to himself. Inside it, curled up like he owned the place, was his little brother Cowboy.

When dad Michael asked the golden rescue dog whether the puppy had commandeered his favorite resting spot yet again, Cactus didn't need to bark. A slow, expressive look and an enthusiastic wag of his tail said everything: it was time to intervene.

Instead of stretching out happily in his reclaimed bed, Cactus strolled over to inspect the upgrade. In one deliberate motion, the larger dog folded his legs, squeezed his entire body into Cowboy’s much smaller cushion, and sat down with utter satisfaction.

"Cactus! That's Cowboy's bed!" Michael exclaimed in disbelief, realizing his thoughtful shopping trip had completely backfired. As Michael later joked, he thought buying Cowboy his own cushion would solve the crowding, but apparently it was Cactus’s house and everyone else was just living in it.

Later, he took in Cowboy as a foster puppy alongside Cowboy's mother, Honey, before officially welcoming the lively pup into the family permanently.
