Couple Straps a GoPro to Their Dog at Wedding, and His Point of View Captures Pure Joy

When Emily Cowles envisioned marrying her fiancé, Josh, she pictured a bright, sunny gathering by the water surrounded by the people closest to them. But among everyone on the guest list, there was one four-legged family member she could never imagine walking down the aisle without: her devoted dog, Swayze.

Swayze entered Emily's life in 2021 shortly after she relocated to Denver, Colorado. In the painful aftermath of her father's passing, the goofy, gentle pup became her daily emotional anchor. Months later, when Emily met Josh, the pair naturally grew into an inseparable trio. By the time wedding planning began, making Swayze a focal part of their celebration felt completely natural.

“He is goofy, comforting, so sweet, and some joke he’s just a person in a dog costume because he always seems to understand what you’re saying,” Emily shared with The Dodo.

The couple originally planned traditional honors for their pup, having him stroll down the aisle and even concocting a signature reception drink dubbed the “Swayze Spritz,” complete with his portrait printed on the bar menu. But after spotting a clip online of a dog carrying a camera, Emily knew they had to take things one step further.

She ran the idea by their wedding videographer, Sabastian, who enthusiastically hopped on board. Right as cocktail hour kicked off, Sabastian strapped a lightweight GoPro securely to Swayze’s chest harness and let the shaggy Sheepadoodle wander through the celebration.

The resulting point-of-view recording delivered pure gold. Swayze’s roving camera captured an endless lineup of guests dropping formal decorum to greet him at eye level. Friends and relatives in elegant gowns and sharp suits leaned in close, offering high-pitched praise, unlimited chin scratches, and warm hugs.

Among the sweetest moments caught on film was an up-close, beaming interaction with Emily's 91-year-old grandmother, who leaned directly into the lens to share a tender hello with the pup.

Beyond creating an unforgettable souvenir, Swayze's camera patrol solved an age-old wedding dilemma: newlyweds rarely have time to greet every guest individually, but their outgoing pup happily made the rounds to every table and corner of the patio.
