This clever stray dog figured out how the drive-thru works and nudged drivers to order him a meal!
For nearly two years, a clever German Shepherd mix lived as a stray in Cleveland, Texas, eluding local rescuer Zully Vasquez Ventura. Ventura had been working tirelessly to feed and rescue neglected animals in her neighborhood, but this timid pup was initially too fearful to let anyone close.
Things took a hilarious and brilliant turn when a new McDonald’s opened nearby. The resourceful pup quickly figured out that cars pulling into the drive-thru line were filled with potential meal sponsors. He began walking up to idling vehicles, making adorable eye contact, and barking to get their attention.
When Ventura pulled up to order one day, she was amazed by his genius. The dog approached her window, looked her straight in the eye, and then pointed his nose directly at the menu speaker board, signaling that it was time to place his order. Surprised and amused, Ventura treated him to a fresh Big Mac.
Ventura shared videos of the drive-thru mastermind online, catching the attention of Mike’s Chance Animal Rescue. Armed with a Big Breakfast order, Ventura returned to the drive-thru, used scrambled eggs to safely lure him into a crate, and brought him to safety once and for all.
Appropriately named Big Mac, the 2-year-old pup completely blossomed once he felt safe in foster care. No longer struggling to survive on the streets, he has revealed a joyful, affectionate personality. Big Mac is now vetted, healthy, and eagerly searching for a loving forever home!
Every stray dog deserves a chance to feel safe. With patience and love, even fearful street dogs can blossom into wonderful family companions.
