When street dog rescuer Niall Harbison found Skye, she was in critical condition. Locals had reported hearing the puppy crying in distress through the night from across the lot, and by the time Harbison reached her, her fragile body was bent out of shape, immobile, and crawling with thousands of fleas. Rescuers suspected she had suffered severe blunt trauma after being struck by a passing vehicle.
