"Their own little puppy paradise aka the main reason I chose this house for us," Gailin explained, sharing the clip with followers as reported by DogTime. "You didn't think Chili was going to be without his lake, did you? NEVER."
The move marks a natural continuation for the New Jersey pair, whose everyday routine has long revolved around swimming off the dock, paddleboarding, and wading along the shallows. Chili first earned a dedicated following for his year-round lake obsession—even humorously patrolling the frozen ice in the winter like a self-appointed sheriff. When younger companion Stevie joined the household, she learned to swim right by his side, turning the duo into inseparable dock partners.
Keeping up with full-time lake retrievers
Having a lake just paces from the patio is pure bliss for water-loving dogs, but it also comes with dedicated daily maintenance. Retrievers have dense, water-repellent double coats that can easily hold moisture against the skin beneath an outer layer that feels dry to the touch. To keep daily dips safe and prevent hot spots, Gailin pairs frequent swimming with regular post-lake blow-drying and ear checks.
