Tap to Pay on iPhone expands to 8 more countries across Latin America
Apple says Tap to Pay on iPhone is now available in Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, and Peru — letting merchants accept contactless payments with no extra hardware.
Apple has expanded Tap to Pay on iPhone to eight more countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, according to MacRumors (Joe Rossignol, September 22, 2026).
The new markets are:
- Argentina
- Colombia
- Costa Rica
- Dominican Republic
- Guatemala
- Honduras
- Panama
- Peru
What merchants get
Tap to Pay on iPhone lets businesses accept contactless payments on an iPhone with a supported payment app — no separate point-of-sale terminal. Customers tap their iPhone, Apple Watch, contactless card, or other digital wallet against the merchant’s iPhone.
Apple’s regional availability list for developers is at Tap to Pay on iPhone — Countries and Regions. Prior 2026 rollouts already brought the feature to markets such as Malaysia and South Africa.
Why it matters
For small businesses and mobile vendors, the pitch is the same as earlier launches: turn a phone already in the pocket into a contactless reader. For readers in the newly listed countries, check which local payment platforms and POS apps have enabled the API before expecting every merchant to offer it on day one.
