A hidden settings screen in iOS 27.2 beta 3 lets you turn off individual one-tap suggestions in Messages, or hide the ones you never use after 30 days.
Apple looks ready to give iPhone users more say over the one-tap suggestions that pop up in Messages. Code in the third iOS 27.2 beta, which Apple seeded to developers on October 5, includes a new settings screen that lets you turn each type of Suggested Action on or off on its own. The controls were found by code explorer pdfu on X and reported by MacRumors and 9to5Mac.
The screen isn't switched on in the beta yet, so these options sit in code for now and could change before release.
Suggested Actions are an Apple Intelligence feature that reads the context of a conversation and offers a button to act on it. When Apple introduced the feature in June, it described Messages offering one-tap suggestions such as creating a reminder or a note. If a friend asks for photos, Messages can search your library for matching people, places, and keywords. If someone invites you to something, it can offer to add the event to Calendar.
The feature showed up in the first iOS 27 beta but was pulled before the September release. According to 9to5Mac, that followed complaints that some suggestions felt random. It returned in the iOS 27.2 betas.
Based on the screenshot pdfu shared, the settings screen has a separate switch for each kind of suggestion:
There's also a Hide Unused Suggestions switch. With it on, any type of suggestion you haven't used for 30 days stops appearing. You can bring a hidden type back by turning its switch off and on again.
That means you won't have to choose between all suggestions or none. Someone who likes the Calendar button but finds the Notes prompts noisy could keep one and drop the other, or let the 30-day rule tidy things up automatically.
iOS 27.2 is already on its third beta and also brings the redesigned Health app with new Insight and Longevity tabs, plus Siri AI in more languages. Apple has said those new Siri AI languages arrive in October, and iPhone Duo launches on October 23 with iOS 27.1, so MacRumors expects iOS 27.2 shortly after.
The same beta also brought a new Apple Music logo and Apple Intelligence clues in tvOS 27.2. For everything else in the update, see our iOS 27.2 coverage.
