Gurman: iPhone 18 Pro Dynamic Island will shrink and support three Live Activities

Hours before Surprise and Shine, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman is adding a concrete software wrinkle to the long-running smaller Dynamic Island rumor for iPhone 18 Pro.

According to MacRumors, Gurman says the Pro and Pro Max will ship with a smaller and improved Dynamic Island that lets users toggle between three Live Activities at the top of the display. Today’s Island has been capped at two concurrent Live Activities since the iPhone 14 Pro era.

That is the net-new claim. A narrower cutout has been in the rumor stack for months; the three-task Live Activity behavior is the piece that was not settled in earlier coverage.

What else Gurman restates

The same note largely keeps the Pro look close to today’s Pros, with a burgundy red option said to replace Cosmic Orange. Sky blue and Silver remain in the color conversation, matching the unsettled display and color evidence roundup.

Hardware talking points restated alongside the Island change include the A20 Pro on TSMC’s 2nm process, longer battery life, a revamped vapor chamber, and a mechanical aperture lens that may stay exclusive to Pro Max.
