How to fast charge iPhone 18 Pro: 40W Dynamic adapter, AVS, and MagSafe times
Apple’s max wired charge needs a USB PD 3.1 adapter with Adjustable Voltage Supply—today that means the 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W max. Here’s 0–50% in ~15 minutes, MagSafe times, and what Duo inherits.
iPhone 18 Pro isn’t only about longer battery life—it also wires in a faster charge path than last year’s Pros. Apple’s own testing (and a clear how-to from 9to5Mac) spells out the accessory combo that unlocks the top rate.
Wired: 0–50% in about 15 minutes
To hit maximum wired speed, Apple specifies:
- A 60W-capable USB-C cable, and
- A USB PD 3.1 (or better) power adapter with Adjustable Voltage Supply (AVS)
Right now the readily available brick that matches that brief is Apple’s 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max (Model A3351). With that stack, Apple quotes:
- ~15 minutes from empty to 50% (~5 minutes quicker than iPhone 17 Pro’s ~20-minute 0–50%)
- About 6 hours of video playback after a 5-minute top-up at that rate
Many MacBook chargers (96W / 140W) are higher wattage but lack AVS, so they won’t unlock the new ceiling. Higher-watt third-party bricks without AVS will likely behave like last year—still fast, but closer to the ~20-minute 0–50% class until someone ships a confirmed AVS PD 3.1 option.
MagSafe wireless

iPhone Duo too
When iPhone Duo ships in October, 9to5Mac reports it will support the same faster wired charging path if you bring the right cable and AVS-capable adapter. Phones still ship without a power brick—only a USB-C cable.
