Apple says iPhone 18 Pro Max delivers the largest battery-life increase ever on iPhone, peaking at up to 45 hours of video playback on eSIM-only models — the longest battery claim Apple has published for any iPhone (Newsroom, MacRumors).

iPhone 18 Pro
- Typical use: up to 24 hours
- Video playback: up to 36 hours (eSIM-only)
- Streaming video: up to 33 hours (per MacRumors’ readout of Apple’s ratings)
iPhone 18 Pro Max
- Typical use: up to 30 hours
- Video playback: up to 45 hours (eSIM-only)
- Streaming video: up to 40 hours
Versus last year’s Pro models, MacRumors notes about +3 hours of video playback on Pro (33 → 36) and +6 hours on Pro Max (39 → 45).
Charging claims
- iPhone 18 Pro: up to 50% in about 15 minutes wired; wirelessly up to 50% in 30 minutes (per Apple)
- iPhone 18 Pro Max: five minutes of wired charging provides around seven hours of video playback (per Apple)
- MacRumors also lists 50% in 15 minutes with a 60W+ Adjustable Voltage Supply adapter, 50% in 30 minutes with a 35W adapter, and up to 25W MagSafe / Qi2.2 wireless charging
Why it matters before September 12
If battery is your upgrade trigger, Pro Max is the clearer leap on Apple’s own chart. Pro still lands near last year’s Pro Max class for typical use.
