Apple Support confirms the wall-mounted HomeView box includes only the device and documentation, while the tabletop model ships with a power cable and adapter.
Apple's wall-mounted HomeView will ship without a power adapter, USB-C cable, or mount, according to an Apple Support document published October 14 and reported by MacRumors.
The Support page draws a clear line between the two $299 models. Tabletop HomeView ships with a power cable and adapter, and Apple says it needs a USB-C adapter rated for at least 30W that supports 15V at 2A or higher. MacRumors adds that the tabletop box includes a 30W adapter and a 1.5-meter USB-C cable.
HomeView (Wall Mounted) is different. Its box contains only the device and documentation. Customers need a compatible third-party mount and a power solution, both sold separately. Depending on the mount, that can mean a separate USB-C cable and adapter rated for at least 20W supporting 9V at 2.22A or higher, or a hardwired connection to line power.
If the power supply falls short, HomeView shows a "Power Adapter Not Supported" message along with a lightning bolt and yellow warning triangle. Apple's troubleshooting steps include testing the wall unit outside its mount with a known-good USB-C cable and adapter. If it powers on that way, Apple says to contact the mount manufacturer or professional installer.
Both models were introduced during Apple's Welcome Home event and are available to pre-order for $299 in the United States, with availability beginning November 13. Separately, Apple has published HomeView repair fees and AppleCare pricing.
