For shoppers without a 2024 mini, the $800 gap buys scale, not newer silicon: the M5 Pro reaches higher CPU/GPU counts, 307GB/s bandwidth, and a 64GB memory ceiling versus M6’s 32GB / 2TB storage caps. Local LLM and heavy parallel work that needs more than 32GB has nowhere to go on M6 no matter how you configure it.
