iOS 27 Camera code points to pro tools that could arrive with iPhone 18 Pro

iOS 27 beta code points to a broader Camera app toolkit than Apple has demonstrated so far. Findings shared by MacRumors forum member pdfu, and corroborated in AppleInsider’s write-up, describe five capabilities that are present in the software pipeline but are not yet exposed in current betas.

None of the features are available to testers today, and Apple could still withhold some or all of them from the September release. Treat the list as a code-based signal, not a confirmed product sheet.

The five signals in code

According to the MacRumors report on pdfu’s findings:

• Exposure scopes — waveform and histogram displays that help judge brightness across a frame
• Focus peaking and highlight warnings — overlays that mark sharp edges and warn when areas are clipping
• Repeated self-timer shots — timed bursts that restart the countdown immediately after each capture
• Manual focus — lock and set focus more like Final Cut Camera; related code appears limited to devices that ship with iOS 27 or later
• Aperture-based image correction — lens-correction blending that can change with aperture setting, which would matter if a future iPhone ships a variable-aperture main camera

The last item is the clearest hardware tie. Reporting already centers variable aperture as the iPhone 18 Pro camera rumor to watch. Software that adjusts corrections by aperture would be a natural companion if that hardware ships.

What this does—and does not—mean

Code references do not guarantee a public UI on day one. Apple has previously left unfinished Camera and health surfaces in betas until a later seed. Manual focus being restricted to new-device shipping builds would also split the experience between current and next-generation iPhones if it ships as described.
