Loyal Dog Shields Her Tiny Brother in Middle of Busy Traffic Until Help Arrives
When traffic came to a halt in Los Angeles, rescuers discovered a brave shepherd mix protecting her tiny five-pound companion in the road.
When traffic slowed to a crawl in Los Angeles County, rescuers Suzette Hall and Rosario Ortiz with Logan’s Legacy 29 knew something was terribly wrong. Inching forward, they spotted a heartbreaking scene: two dogs lying right on the road's centerline while busy cars swerved around them. The pair couldn't have looked more different—a large shepherd mix named Nova and a tiny five-pound dog named Benji—yet Nova wrapped her body around her little friend to shield him from ongoing traffic.
Hall and Ortiz immediately stopped traffic and carefully guided the bonded duo into a nearby yard. Even as rescuers worked to secure them using food and crates, Nova stood fiercely on guard over her tiny brother, refusing to leave his side or break eye contact with him for a single second.
Once both dogs were safely in crates, rescuers rushed them to Camino Pet Hospital for a checkup. Just as they arrived, they were met with an incredible surprise: Nova and Benji's distraught owners had been searching everywhere for them after the pair accidentally escaped from their home miles away.
The emotional reunion made every second of the stressful rescue worth it. Thanks to Nova's fierce loyalty and protective instincts, both sweet pups are back home resting safely with their family.
