Hipster Whale's new island runner adds four-player online and local multiplayer, and it's already up for pre-order on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Vision Pro.
Apple Arcade has another exclusive from a familiar name. Apple and developer Hipster Whale announced on October 6 that Crossy Road Rush, a new spinoff of the blocky road-hopping game that became a mobile hit in 2014, will launch only on Apple Arcade on Thursday, November 5, at 4 p.m. PST. The App Store listing is already live, so subscribers can pre-order it now.
The announcement was covered the same day by The Verge, MacRumors and 9to5Mac.
Crossy Road Rush drops the original's endless road crossing in favor of an island obstacle course. Hipster Whale calls it a "platforming island runner": players chase an angry Octoboss away from peaceful Crossy Cove, clear the goo, and free their friends while they swerve, dodge, wall-ride and bounce past hazards. Apple describes it as a game where players "swerve, jump, and smash their way across an island obstacle course packed with quick-fire challenges and hazards at every turn."
It keeps the colorful voxel look of Crossy Road Castle, Hipster Whale's earlier Apple Arcade game, but puts more weight on racing and multiplayer.
According to MacRumors, two games already sold on the App Store, KAMI 2 and Food Stylist, will also join Apple Arcade on November 5. The announcement comes days after Apple added five titles to the service earlier this month: Pusheen's Place, River City Survivors, Terraria+, Touchgrind BMX 2+ and 4 Pics 1 Word+.
Apple Arcade costs $6.99 a month in the U.S. and is included in every Apple One plan, which recently got more expensive in parts of Europe. Hipster Whale notes that new subscribers can start with a one-month free trial.
Crossy Road Rush also runs on Apple TV, which is due for new hardware soon. Bloomberg reports Apple plans to introduce a new Apple TV 4K alongside a smart home hub and a new HomePod mini on October 13, and the latest tvOS beta points to Apple Intelligence features for that model.
