Apple refreshed Trade-In tables after Surprise and Shine: maximum iPhone payouts fell (some by up to $120), while iPad and most Mac values rose. New 17-series and iPhone Air lines are now listed.
Apple has updated its Trade-In values again after Surprise and Shine — lowering maximum payouts across returning iPhones while raising the top end for iPads and most Macs, according to 9to5Mac’s rundown of Apple’s tables as of September 9, 2026.
This is separate from Apple’s recent push toward friendlier grading for minor cosmetic damage. The new table is about dollar caps, not condition rules.
All figures above are Apple’s published “up to” maximums and depend on condition, configuration, and eligibility.
If you are trading toward iPhone 18 Pro pre-orders (Saturday, September 12) or waiting on iPhone Duo in October, the lower iPhone caps shrink the credit side of the math even as Mac/iPad trade-ins look more generous.
Always re-check Apple’s live Trade-In estimator before locking a cart — tables can move again after launches.
