Apple will expand its Trade-In program today to offer better pricing for devices with minor cosmetic defects, MacRumors reports — a money-side tweak that lands as the company prepares iPhone 18 Pro upgrades after Surprise and Shine.
What’s changing
Under the current system, small issues such as chips in display glass have often been scored like far more serious damage (for example a cracked or smashed screen), which can slash a quote. MacRumors understands Apple is moving to more granular condition pricing that better matches actual wear, and that customers will not receive less under the new rules than they would today for the same device.
9to5Mac frames the change as softener for expected Pro price increases, noting the policy is expected to apply across Apple’s product range — not only iPhones.
