Code sleuth pdfu (@itspdfu) says HomePod Software 27 / audioOS 27 includes Linwood — the system behind Siri AI — plus a new look and sound for Siri on HomePod, according to MacRumors (Juli Clover, Wednesday, September 23, 2026) and 9to5Mac (Ryan Christoffel, same day).

This is a HomePod speaker-stack story: code evidence that Siri AI plumbing and a refreshed status-light UI are landing in audioOS. It is not an Apple confirmation that Siri AI is live on today’s speakers.

In an X post quoted by both outlets, pdfu wrote that audioOS 27 includes Linwood, a new look and sound for Siri on HomePod, and status lights that emphasize white, blue, and orange — matching the Siri AI palette on other devices. A short clip accompanies the claim (sound on).

MacRumors notes the practical catch: HomePod Software 27 is already out, and Siri AI is not available on existing HomePods. That gap is why pdfu flags that support may require new hardware.

9to5Mac frames the same finding as the first look at what Siri AI could look like on a HomePod, and adds that pdfu later clarified it is unclear whether Siri AI will be tied to new hardware exclusively — though the site calls a hardware gate a near certainty, citing Apple’s silence on Siri AI for Home products at the June unveil.

Why existing units still lack Siri AI

Treat the hardware requirement as an inference, not a shipping sheet:

• Software 27 is shipping without an active Siri AI experience on current HomePods.
