Some existing iPhone Duo pre-orders in the U.S. and Japan now show earlier delivery windows than when they were placed, according to customer reports collected by MacRumors. The examples are anecdotal, not an Apple inventory statement.
Some customers who already pre-ordered the iPhone Duo are seeing earlier estimated delivery windows than Apple’s store showed when they ordered, MacRumors reports (Joe Rossignol). The examples so far are concentrated in markets such as the U.S. and Japan and come from forums and social posts, not from an Apple statement on inventory.
In the U.S., YouTuber Matt Gonzalez said his Star White 512GB Duo pre-order initially showed a December delivery estimate and now shows November 20 to November 30, MacRumors says. A handful of MacRumors Forums members described similar moves of several weeks—for example, an initial December 1 to December 8 window shifting to November 16 to November 23.
In Japan, one customer said on social media that their estimate moved from December 3 to December 10 to a single date of October 24—one day after Duo’s October 23 launch—according to MacRumors. 9to5Mac (Ryan Christoffel) likewise collected Japanese reports of earlier windows over the weekend, while noting Apple has not commented and that it is unclear how widely the changes will spread.
These are individual order-status updates. They do not mean every backlog order is moving, or that newly placed U.S. online orders have left the long lead times that settled in after Friday’s open.
Duo pre-orders opened Friday, October 16. Within about the first half hour, U.S. online shipping estimates for new orders collapsed to January 25, and Apple later called demand "nothing short of extraordinary." Our earlier coverage tracked opening-day windows, the January 25 online picture and early resale premiums, Apple’s extraordinary-demand statement, and Gurman’s "major mistake" supply framing.
MacRumors notes Apple has often underpromised and overdelivered on shipping estimates for new products, so some existing orders improving is familiar—but it remains case-by-case until more orders update.
Duo still launches Friday, October 23.
