Apple Calls iPhone Duo Pre-Order Demand 'Nothing Short of Extraordinary'

Apple Calls iPhone Duo Pre-Order Demand 'Nothing Short of Extraordinary'

Apple told CNBC that iPhone Duo pre-order demand was "nothing short of extraordinary" as U.S. online delivery estimates already reach January 2027.

Apple has put an official label on the iPhone Duo pre-order rush. In a statement reported by CNBC (MacKenzie Sigalos and Kif Leswing), the company said demand was "nothing short of extraordinary."

"We are working hard to get this revolutionary new product into customers' hands as quickly as possible, and we will continue accepting orders online," Apple said, according to CNBC.

MacRumors (Juli Clover) and 9to5Mac (Marcus Mendes) likewise carried the company comment Friday evening Pacific Time, after U.S. online shipping windows had already collapsed into early 2027.

What the statement adds

The remark does not change list pricing or the published launch day. Duo still starts at $1,999 for 256GB and reaches $3,199 at 2TB, with first deliveries aimed at Friday, October 23 for buyers who secured early slots.

It does give Apple’s own framing for a day when delivery estimates moved faster than many launches. Our earlier notes covered pre-orders going live and early windows and the later picture of January 25 U.S. online estimates plus early eBay premiums.

9to5Mac adds that some markets, including Brazil, were already showing early-February delivery estimates when its demand piece published. Apple’s statement also stresses that online orders remain open even as lead times stretch.

Scarcity and the ASP bet

CNBC’s broader piece frames Duo as a high-ASP, status-symbol bet rather than a mass-volume slab replacement. Analysts quoted there expect initial supply to stay tight relative to interest from Apple’s installed base, and they point to average selling price and mix—not unit share alone—as the near-term investor test.

That is analyst commentary, not Apple guidance. The company’s own words so far are the extraordinary-demand line and the pledge to keep taking online orders while it works through the backlog.
