2019 21.5-inch iMac joins Apple’s vintage products list

Apple has added the iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2019) to its vintage and obsolete products list — the last Intel 21.5-inch all-in-one before the colorful M1 redesign.

Apple’s support page carries a Published Date of September 15, 2026, matching reports from MacRumors and 9to5Mac.

What “vintage” means

Under Apple’s definitions:

• Vintage: Apple stopped distributing the product for sale more than 5 and less than 7 years ago. Hardware service and parts may still be available through Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers if parts remain in stock.
• Obsolete: more than 7 years off the market. Apple discontinues hardware service, and providers generally cannot order parts.

So the 2019 21.5-inch iMac is not dead for repairs yet — but availability is no longer guaranteed. If you own one and have been delaying a fix, this is a good nudge to book sooner.

Why this model lagged the 27-inch

The 2019 27-inch iMac moved to vintage earlier (July 2025, per MacRumors). Apple sold the smaller 21.5-inch Retina 4K model longer, so it only now clears the five-year vintage threshold.

The 2019 21.5-inch machine shipped with a Retina 4K display in the classic silver chassis. The base configuration used an Intel Core i3, 8GB RAM, and a 1TB hard drive, starting at $1,299. It was succeeded by the redesigned M1 iMac in 2021.

Bottom line for owners
