Dog Abandoned at Shelter Gate Melts Into Her New Family the Moment She Realizes She Is Safe
Snow White was soaking wet and terrified when rescuers found her, but love changed everything.
When an animal control officer arrived at Louisiana's DeRidder Animal Pound last November, he was met with a heartbreaking sight. A young pit bull mix had been tied up outside the entrance, sitting directly beneath a sign that pleaded, "Do Not Drop Off At Gate." Soaking wet, covered in fleas, and still healing from a spay surgery performed just the day before, the shivering dog had likely spent the entire cold weekend waiting alone for someone to come help her.
With resources stretched thin at the small municipal pound, the pup—later named Snow White—faced an uncertain future. Thankfully, volunteers from Seventh Heaven Rescue, a New York-based rescue group, stepped in. As reported by The Dodo, Seventh Heaven cofounder Jana Reiss knew they couldn't leave her behind. Moved into a temporary foster home in Louisiana, Snow White's sweet personality quickly surfaced. Despite everything she had endured, she proved to be an unabashed cuddler who shadowed her humans from room to room.
