Tesla is adding V2L to Premium Model Y configurations, but owners must verify vehicle-specific hardware and retrofit compatibility before buying equipment.
V2L allows a vehicle to supply electricity to external equipment, turning a compatible Model Y into a mobile power source for selected loads. Tesla’s support depends on the vehicle configuration, so the feature is not automatically available on every Model Y with the same model name.
Owners should verify compatibility through Tesla’s official vehicle configuration, service documentation, or the Tesla app before buying equipment or booking work. A retrofit procedure is not the same as a blanket promise that every older Model Y can receive the feature at a reasonable cost.
