Tesla Launches Texas Powerwall Lease at About $35 a Month After Credits

Tesla’s Texas Powerwall Lease advertises about $35 per month after credits, but the effective price depends on plan eligibility and contract terms.

Tesla Energy has introduced a Powerwall Lease option in Texas through Tesla Electric, offering two Powerwall units with an advertised net monthly cost of about $35 after credits. The plan was reported by Teslarati on August 13, 2026. Source

The offer requires a $100 order fee. The base lease payment is approximately $122 per month during the first year, with a 3% annual escalator, while enrollment in a qualifying Tesla Electric Backup or Virtual Power Plant plan provides an $87 monthly credit. Tesla says the standard installation carries no additional charge.

The package includes Storm Watch and app-based management. The advertised price therefore depends on eligibility for the credit and the associated electricity plan; it should not be read as a universal $35 monthly price for every Texas household.

For prospective customers, the key questions are the full contract term, cancellation conditions, taxes, electricity-rate details, and how the credit changes over time. The offering shifts Powerwall from an upfront hardware purchase toward a service arrangement, but the economics depend on the accompanying Tesla Electric enrollment.
