Tesla has registered 45 purpose-built Cybercabs with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles ahead of its September 3 launch event in Austin. The vehicles are listed under Tesla Robotaxi, LLC, alongside the Model Y vehicles already authorized for the company’s Texas service.
The registrations mark the first meaningful appearance of Tesla’s steering-wheel-free, pedal-free robotaxi in the state’s commercial automated-vehicle records. They are a regulatory and fleet milestone, not proof that all 45 cars are already carrying paying passengers.
