Apple’s new CEO shared a short X clip that looks like a variable-aperture camera tease hours before his first product keynote.
Apple CEO John Ternus has posted a mysterious teaser video on X hours before today’s “Surprise and shine” event — his first product unveiling since taking the job on September 1.
MacRumors, 9to5Mac, and AppleInsider all flag the same clip: a beam of light (from a hexagonal shape that changes size) shining onto the edge of what appears to be an iPhone, with no voiceover.
Why it reads as a camera tease
The consensus interpretation is that Ternus is hinting at the rumored variable-aperture camera expected on iPhone 18 Pro and/or iPhone 18 Pro Max. A mechanical aperture would let users control how much light hits the sensor and how depth of field behaves — something smartphones usually fake with computational Portrait blur.
That fits earlier iOS 27 Camera code pointing to pro-oriented camera tools landing with this year’s Pros. Whether the aperture upgrade is Pro-wide or Max-exclusive is still unconfirmed by Apple.
