Leica SL3-P announced with 44MP sensor, 40fps and 8K Open Gate video
Leica’s new SL3-P pairs a 44MP sensor with hybrid autofocus, 40fps shooting and 8K Open Gate video. It will be available worldwide from 25 June 2026 at €5,990 including VAT.
Leica has announced the SL3-P, a new full-frame L-Mount camera that sits between the SL3 and SL3-S in the company’s lineup. Leica says it combines a 44-megapixel BSI sensor with a hybrid autofocus system, up to 40 frames per second with autofocus support, and video recording up to 8.1K Open Gate.
The autofocus system combines phase detection, depth mapping and contrast detection, with 819 phase-detection points and subject recognition for people, animals and vehicles. The camera’s Multishot mode can produce images up to 176 megapixels, while its ISO range runs from 50 to 200,000.
For video, the SL3-P supports 8.1K Open Gate in 3:2 format, HDMI RAW 8K Open Gate, 5.9K recording up to 60p and 4K slow motion up to 120p. Leica also includes Apple ProRes recording and two in-camera LUTs for L-Log workflows. The body is made in Germany, has IP54 protection, and supports Content Credentials.
Leica says the SL3-P will be available worldwide from 25 June 2026 through Leica Stores, the Leica Online Store and authorised dealers. The European recommended retail price is €5,990 including VAT. Three launch kits range from €6,990 to €9,790. The Summilux-SL 50 f/1.4 ASPH. and APO-Macro-Elmarit-SL 100 f/2.8 are planned for the end of 2026 at €4,500 and €2,450 including VAT, respectively.
