Tesla Confirms FSD v14 Lite Development for Australia and New Zealand HW3 Owners
Tesla says FSD (Supervised) v14 Lite is in active development for Australia and New Zealand, but the owner email gives no rollout date or eligible build list.
Tesla has confirmed that it is actively developing FSD (Supervised) v14 Lite for Hardware 3 vehicles in Australia and New Zealand. The regional update came in an email to owners on August 28, while Tesla said the same software was rolling out in North America and South Korea.
The email from Tesla Motors Australia said the development represents progress toward bringing FSD (Supervised) to Hardware 3 vehicles, but it did not provide a release date, software build number, or list of eligible vehicle configurations. That makes this a confirmed development effort, not a confirmed regional rollout.

The wording does not say when owners in either country will receive an update. Tesla also did not say whether every Hardware 3 Model 3 and Model Y in the two markets will qualify.
Why Hardware 3 needs a Lite build
Hardware 3, also called AI3, is the older Tesla computer installed in many vehicles built from 2019 through the early 2020s. Tesla designed v14 Lite as a version of the FSD software that can run within that computer’s more limited processing and memory budget. Newer Hardware 4 vehicles already have access to the full v14 branch in Australia and New Zealand, according to regional reporting.
FSD (Supervised) still requires the driver to remain responsible and attentive. This update does not turn a Hardware 3 Tesla into an unsupervised robotaxi, and Tesla has not announced that v14 Lite will support unsupervised driving on those vehicles.
What owners can do now
There is no manual installation route or confirmed delivery date to act on. Hardware 3 owners should keep the vehicle connected, check the Software screen and Tesla app for updates, and verify their vehicle’s hardware and FSD entitlement before assuming they are included.
Tesla’s service documentation lists release notes for Service Mode, but it does not establish a public FSD v14 Lite schedule for Australia or New Zealand. The next meaningful confirmation would be a named software build appearing in vehicles in those markets, followed by Tesla documentation or an owner rollout that identifies the applicable models and subscriptions.
